एक रात की परीक्षा

वर्षा का मौसम था। सुबह के चार बजे होंगे। मैं अपने कमरे में दो दिन बाद होने वाली प्रवेश परीक्षा की तैयारियों में मगन था। तभी अचानक बिजली चली गई। घना अँधेरा छा गया। बारिश की तेज़ आवाज़ के बीच मैं घबरा गया।

मैंने मोमबत्ती ढूँढी, पर मिली नहीं। तभी मेरी नज़र खिड़की पर पड़ी — पड़ोस के बुजुर्ग रामलाल काका देर रात बीमार पड़े थे। उनके घर से आवाज़ें आ रही थीं।

मैंने किताब रखी और दौड़कर उनके घर गया। उन्हें अस्पताल पहुँचाने में मदद की। सुबह होते-होते वे ठीक हो गए।
